On the hunt

I am looking for a book my Dad had when I was younger, I fondly remember enthusiastically reading about how Hudson's Bay trappers caught beaver...

Hopefully I can find a copy and re-read this classic that no doubt has had a lot of influence on my love of the outdoors.

Bowhunter,

My local library can get me almost any book that is listed at a website called WorldCat. Maybe your local library is the same. The book Canadian Wilds by Martin Hunter is listed on WorldCat. It's available at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. (I live in Maryland and have gotten books from as far away as Oregon before, and it was all free.) The website is www.worldcat.org. Just type in the title of any book in the searchbox and it will show you where in the U.S. the book is available.

Better yet, go to Google Books at books.google.com. I went there just moments ago and typed in Canadian Wilds and the entire book is available to read there for free.

I think I'm going to read this book as I always enjoy reading about native Americans.

Bowhunter,

I just found an even better place to read Canadian Wilds. The site is www.gutenberg.org. This is the link to Canadian Wilds itself, http://www.gutenberg.org/files/34173/34173-h/34173-h.htm

I believe that book is still available from Fur-Fish-Game.

Hope you're pulling thru the winter in good shape. J

Thanks everyone! I am sure I can get a copy through the local library, and I ran across that Project Gutenburg site as well, very cool.

Really, I'd love to find the copy my Dad has stashed away somewhere, I don't think it's a book he'd toss, and none of my brothers think they have it either.

I'll keep looking and keep you posted.

Thanks again!
